Norwegian Military Cross

On 15 June 2007 the Norwegian Military gained a new Decoration the Military Cross. It is to be awarded to Norwegian and Foreign personnel for Bravery or Exemplary leadership of Units in Combat.

The Military Cross shows in the middle the Arms of the Norwegian Armed Forces. To the rigth the Ribbons which can be shown with up to three Swords for further awards of the Cross.

Just for the sake of order, this decoration was not approved by HM The King of Norway but originated as a result of the initiative of the COD (Chief of Defence) General Diesen in order to provide a special decoration for bravery in the ongoing war in Afghanistan.The decoration is still not approved by HM (December 2010) but "Krigskorset" ( The War Cross) ,-also with swords 1-3 from the 1940-45 war has been reinstalled/revoked as a vallied decoration for the present conflict
