Some examples of the Heraldic Unit Insignia of the Brasilian Army from the Portuguese language Wikipedia.

General Staff of the Army. EME are the initials of the Portuguese name Estado Maior do Exército.

Amazonia Military Command. CME = Comando Militar da Amazonia.

Northeastern Military Command. CMNE = Comando Militar so Nordeste.

Planalto Military Command. CMP = Comando Militar do Planalto. The Pyramid formation in the middle alludes to the futuristic architechture of Brasilia, as the Command includes the Brasilian Federal district.

1st Army Division. In the middle the smoking snake insignia of the Brasilian Volunteer Division who fought alongside the Allies in Italy during World War II. The story behind this insignia goes that Hitler remarked that it was more likely that snakes begin to smoke than Brasilian Troops lands in Europe. When they did just that they soon adopted the smoking snake as divisional insignia.
